Dental Implants in Arab, AL

Dental implants are titanium posts that replace tooth roots. They can be used to replace a single tooth or to support permanent dentures. Dental implants provide a solid foundation for prosthetic teeth and preserve bone density and jawbone health.

At North Alabama Smiles, we offer these advanced restorations that can efficiently reinstate your oral function and your smile’s aesthetics.

Who Should Get Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a good solution for patients who are missing their natural teeth due to various causes. They can be used for individual tooth restorations, bridges, or dentures.

What Does the Dental Implant Process Entail?

At North Alabama Smiles, the dental implant process is straightforward and includes the following steps:

  • Creating a Plan

Our dentists will first create a personalized plan based on your unique needs, health, and desired outcome before beginning the procedure. In some cases, a patient may need the replacement of a single tooth with a crown. For more complex cases, the procedure may include treating tooth decay, extractions, denture fabrication, and more.

  • Tooth Removal

If the implant restoration is required for replacing a tooth that is decayed, cracked, broken, or worn out, the impaired tooth will need to be extracted. Patients can get their root implant done on the same day as their tooth extraction.

  • Root Implant & Gum Healing

Next, the titanium post will be inserted into the missing tooth’s socket. As the jawbone heals, it will grow around the implant restoration. By fusing with the jawbone, the implant will create a stable and permanent root for your replacement tooth.

Before proceeding to the next step of the treatment, your jawbone will have to be completely healed. The healing period usually takes between 6 to 12 weeks.

  • Abutment

When your jawbone has fully healed, an abutment will be placed over the implant. This will be the piece that connects your crown or dentures to the implant.

  • Placing the Crown or Dentures

If you are getting an individual tooth replacement, a customized crown will be fitted over the abutment. The crown will be matched with the color and shape of your missing natural tooth.

If you are getting implant-supported dentures, they will be fabricated and attached to the implants by snapping them into place. The fit will be checked to ensure your comfort and, if necessary, minor adjustments will be made.
