More and more of our patients at North Alabama Smiles are realizing their dream of flaunting a beautiful smile using clear orthodontic aligners. Also known as invisible aligners, these orthodontic appliances help straighten crooked or misaligned teeth. They are practically unnoticeable, as well as removable and more comfortable than traditional braces.
Benefits of Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are made from transparent plastic and designed to fit snugly on your teeth. They are custom-made for your comfort and practically invisible to others. This makes clear aligners the best solution if you’re looking for a more discreet orthodontic treatment.
- Easy Oral Hygiene
As clear aligners are removable, they make it easy for you to follow your regular oral hygiene routine. The only thing you need to add to your routine is brushing and rinsing your aligners with warm water before putting them back on.
- No Dietary Restrictions
With clear aligners, you can eat all of your favorite foods without any problems by simply taking them off before you enjoy your meal.
What Is the Process for Getting Clear Aligners?
At North Alabama Smiles, the first step is to examine the patient’s oral health and take X-rays, photographs, and impressions of their teeth. With the help of this data, our dentists will come up with a treatment plan for your new and improved smile. The primary purpose of aligners is to guide the teeth into the desired position to improve their alignment and your bite.
The second step is manufacturing the clear aligners based on the patient’s digital scans and impressions in a dental laboratory.
As soon as the aligners are ready, our dentists will provide them to you complete with instructions on how to wear and use them. It is commonly advised that the aligners be worn for at least 22 hours each day. While you are wearing the aligners, they will gently apply pressure on the teeth, shifting them into position.
Every 2 weeks during your treatment, you will change the aligners with a new set until the teeth reach their ideal positions in the mouth. The number of clear aligners required will depend on the specific needs of a patient.
As soon as the treatment is complete, our dentists will provide custom retainers that you will have to wear for a couple of months to maintain the new and correct alignment.
